16th November 2012: Dance for Life Milonga

Tango Journey and Thames Valley Tango are proud to have joined with Beverley Cook to have presented ‘Dance for Life’, a special charity milonga to raise funds for the Pancreatic Research Fund, in special memory of a dear friend and brilliant tanguero – Brian Cook.

Every penny raised, over £2000 from door entry, raffle tickets, silent auction, and cupcake sales, goes to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund for essential research and improvement in treatment for pancreatic cancer patients.

2nd May 2012: Phab Workshop

Phab is an organisation of PHysically Disabled & ABle Bodied People, ‘MAKING MORE OF LIFE TOGETHER”.

We are grateful to the organisers of Phab for inviting us to run a 2 hour workshop of tango introduction for the fab Phab members at Kenilworth Social Club on 2 May 2012. We really enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm, co-ordination, and rhythm of club members – all hearing for the first time and loving D’Arienzo’s Don Juan, El Portenito, & Jueves.

They brought out all the right ingredients of tango – taking care of their partners, taking care of others on the dance floor, trust, and confidence. And moving to the beat – really impressive.

It was a tango night of great people ‘making more of life together’ reminding us that tango is for everyone. It is a unique dance…& so much more.
